What to expect & how to prepare for your first chiropractic visit:

In addition to being a Gonstead Chiropractor, Dr. Linda Stevens is also a Functional Medicine Doctor who looks at the body as a whole, treating the root cause of your health issues instead of individual symptoms. Please be ready to discus your full medical history, which is essential for preparing an individualized course of treatment. If you have previous medical records, such as diagnostic test results or imaging results (i.e. X-rays or MRIs) please bring them with you to your first visit.

Be prepared to answer questions such as:

What is the location and severity of your pain?
Did your pain begin immediately following an injury?
What improves or worsens your pain?

The Physical Exam:

The doctor will check your vital signs and reflexes. Sometimes measurements will be taken to determine arm and leg length. Next, you will be asked to do a series of simple activities or exercises. These exercises will provide information about your motor skills, balance, range of motion, muscle tone and strength, and the integrity of your nervous system. After that, X-rays will be taken so the doctor can visualize the entire structure of your spine.

With this information, the doctor will be able to determine the best course of treatment for each individual patient.

About the Gonstead Method

Our patients travel from all over the world to experience the world-renowned Gonstead Technique. The science behind this cutting-edge technique results in the most accurate, specific, and definite approach to evaluating and adjusting the spine. Because the spinal column is a dynamic structure affecting the entire body, the Gonstead Technique uses five criteria to check the spine for motion, soft tissue damage, and neurological dysfunction. This valuable and detailed analysis includes instrumentation, static palpation, motion palpation, visualization, and spinal imaging, followed by adjusting the articulations of the spine by hand only. Through this comprehensive, proactive approach to correcting the spine, we find that the entire body begins functioning better as a whole. There is clinical logic in every decision made for each and every patient.
